The fluctuating coconut price makes the life of local people become nalu and it drove Chal Thi by desire to produce more value-added product from coconut, especially the traditional dishes made from coconut nectar – specialty of Khmer people. As a holder of Master degree in Techno-Food Processing, Thach Thi Chal Thi started working for a startup in cocoa production. In this startup, Chal Thi collected many new and useful things and undertook research into agricultural products to solve the health issues and improve the value of local products. After searching for the lost recipe of coconut-nectar based dishes of Khmer people, Chal Thi tried to cut and massage the coconut flower to harvest coconut sap and cooked the nectar. Despite of countless failures during the experiment, Chal Thi did not give up. Encouraged by her boss, Chal Thi decided to return to the hometown for her own startup establishment with her husband and Tra Vinh Farm Co. Ltd. with the brand named Sokfarm was born afterwards.<\/p>

Manual labor and simple tools and equipment produced limited capacity and short storage and incomplete processing implementation failed to provide sufficient supply to the market demand. Being aware that many small and young enterprises have become successful with technical and nontechnical support and assistance provided by SME Tra Vinh, the tiny and persevering woman was successfully approached the SME Support Program of the project after giving her heartfelt desire to bring her first innovative products to more customers. Chal Thi decided to use VND 300 million granted by SME Tra Vinh in equipment and facilities to improve product quality.<\/p>

Likewise, Chal Thi enthusiastically participated in different capacitybuilding activities which were sponsored by the project. The project gave her exposure to essential trainings on market, business model and attendance to trade promotion events and startup competitions.
